This clay bowl with a pattern of birds has been dated to Boeotia approx. 55O BC

It may not have the naturalism or realism of a Classical or Hellenistic piece but one thing I have noticed about Geometric and Archaic Greek Ceramics is that animals and birds feature far more frequently than in Classical art at least on ceramics. Their plumage becomes a pattern but usually a symmetrical graceful pattern such as this one.
